A MediClinic doou outra vez. “Alguém” me dizia que tinha que passar por lá e dizer olá à R.B. Quando visitava as farmácias e distribuía a lista de medicamentos e outros para levar a Moz., veio-me à mente que seria um bom motivo para lá passar visto terem ajudado no passado. Mas na verdade não levava comigo grandes expectativas visto nem sequer ter marcado o encontro. Afinal, resumindo uma história que podia ser mais detalhada, a R.B., que no início podia dispor de 5 minutos, acabámos por ter uma agradável cavaqueira de quase 1 hora com o resultado de ficarmos combinados que quando voltar em Outubro, se Deus quiser, irá estar disponível para se envolver na iniciativa “De Barraco a Tijolos.” Isso e conseguiu arranjar cadeiras e outro equipamento hospitalar. Já lá fui 2 vezes e tenho que lá voltar.

MediClinic donated again. “SomeOne” was telling me I should go there and say hello to R.B. When I was visiting the pharmacies to pass out the list of medicines and other medical supplies to take to Moz., it came to mind this would be a good reason to go since they had helped in the past. But I wasn’t really harboring expectations because I hadn’t even setup an appointment. At the end, making short a story that could have more details, a 5 minute meeting turned into about an hour of very nice chat with the end result of R.B. wanting to get involved in the “From Shack to Bricks” initiative when I come back again in October, God willing. That and a donation of chairs and other hospital equipment. It’s the 2nd time I go there to pick-up stuff and will have to go again.

NEWS LETTER 03/2013 – 20130331_Op.FSTB2013_NL03

After some time waiting for a buyer for the Nissan 4×4 I thought I’d have to stick with it through the shaky economical conditions we live at present. Since it was in need of tires and some maintenance I went ahead and did it. So long it was back in shape for the road a buyer came along and not only paid what I was asking but also what I had spent to fix it. God didn’t want the car to go as it was and made sure I would only sell it when repaired. From that moment on my petition was that the same would happen to me. With this in my thoughts there I went to Pretoria hunting for a Nissan 1400 “bakkie.” Found it in 4 days! Valued for the money, not bad at all.

Meanwhile B.R. wasn’t able to get the promised timber which felt like another bump on the road. But everything God starts He finishes (and well) and so one day I got the urge to visit a nearby sawmill, our own country folks, who immediately agreed to donate the amount needed for this stage of the building. God bless them!

Between the car hunting, paper work, road worthy, a.s.o. and get on where we had left off it took about two weeks. Orlando, key person in this adventure was now working another job which kept him busy during the week plus having moved further away. After negotiations he said he could come the following two weekends and finish this one. The Saturday 2013.03.23 at 9 o’clock, together with Jabu, Tembe, Tinee and Hélio, they didn’t stop until 9 of the 10 trusses were assembled. The following day after assembling the 10^th truss and with the help of several members of the congregation the same were hoisted and put in place to receive the corrugated iron.

When I was busy ordering the zinc, nails and binding wire H. asks me how much cement would we need for the floor inside the covered area that is not done. He has damaged cement bags that cannot be sold which he wants to donate. God bless him!

At the site, of his own initiative by himself, pastor Jabu picks up the brush and the used car oil and continues painting the trusses. Got an sms from him asking for more oil. J.G. contributed with 4kg of roof nails. And we keep going with everyone’s help.

And so the last weekend of March 2013 stage 01 of the Initiative “From Shack to Bricks” was concluded. God bless you all who have contributed to make this a reality so far. On behalf of KLW*CC and its beneficiaries our heartfelt gratitude!

This Initiative is part of the Tchuma Tchato Project, which is part of the Aurora Missionary Action – AMA Association and has received the support of its partner the Christian Movement The Family International plus friends, in Portugal, South Africa and other countries, who have stood by us throughout these 13 years of amazing fruitful existence.

Stats; 110^hours, 22^days, over a period of 62^days, from January 28th till March 31st. – Adding to the material already mentioned in NewsLetter 02, it was used 3,47^m3 of timber, 15^L of used oil for its treatment, 19^kg of nails (11^kg in the mounting of the trusses and 8^kg to secure the zinc) and 1^roll of binding wire.

CARTA DE NOTÍCIAS 03/2013 – 20130331_Op.FSTB2013_CN03

Depois de algum tempo à espera de comprador para o Nissan 4×4 pensei que iria ter que o usar mesmo nas condições económicas periclitantes em que nos encontramos. Como necessitava pneus e alguma manutenção fui em frente e mandei-o para o mecânico. Logo que ficou em óptimas condições de ir para a estrada apareceu alguém interessado que não só deu o que pedia como o acrescento das reparações e pneus. Deus não quis que o carro fosse como estava e certificou-se que só o venderia se o reparasse. Desde esse momento a minha petição foi que o mesmo acontecesse comigo. Com isto no pensamento lá fui a Pretoria à caça de um “bakkie” Nissan 1400. Em 4 dias encontrei-o! Em conta e não está mau de todo.

Entretanto B.R. não conseguiu arranjar a madeira que tinha prometido. Parecia mais um tropeço na caminhada. Mas tudo o que Deus começa Ele termina (e bem) e assim um dia deu-me de visitar uma serração mesmo aqui ao lado, gente da nossa terra, que imediatamente se dispuseram a doar a madeira necessária para esta fase da construção. Bem hajam!

Entre encontrar o carro, transferência de papelada, inspecção, etc. e pegar onde tínhamos parado, demorou cerca de duas semanas. O Orlando, peça fundamental desta aventura, tinha encontrado emprego e vive agora mais longe. Falei com ele e dispôs-se a vir terminar durante os dois fins de semana seguintes. No Sábado de 2013.03.23 às 9, juntamente com Jabu, Thembe, Tinee e Hélio, não descansou enquanto 9 das 10 vigas cruzadas estavam montadas. Domingo, após montar a viga cruzada que faltava e com a ajuda de vários elementos da congregação, as mesmas foram içadas e colocadas em posição para receber as chapas de zinco.

No dia seguinte faço a encomenda das chapas de zinco, pregos e arame para as fixar. H. pergunta-me quantos sacos de cimento serão necessários para o chão que falta na área coberta. Ele tem sacos de cimento rotos que não se podem vender e quer doá-los. Bem haja!

Na obra, sem o meu conhecimento, o pastor Jabu pega no pincel e no óleo queimado e continua a tratar a madeira que foi montada. Recebi um sms seu a pedir mais óleo. J.G. contribuiu com pregos para fixar o zinco. Assim se vai conseguindo, com a ajuda de todos.

E, no último fim de semana do mês de Março de 2013, deu-se por concluída a primeira fase da Iniciativa “De Barraco a Tijolos,” no âmbito do Projecto Tchuma Tchato, inserido na Associação Acção Missionária Aurora – AMA, com o apoio do Movimento Cristão A Família Internacional, e amigos do projecto que nos têm apoiado ao longo de 13 anos de existência. Bem hajam todos!

Estatísticas: 110 horas, 22 dias, num período de 62 dias, do dia 28 de Janeiro ao dia 31 de Março, cerca de 2 meses – R15.964,50 (€1.332,60) gastos em material, sendo que a madeira, estimada em R12.000,00 (€1.001,67), foi doada. Em 100m2 de área construída dá uma média de R279,65 (€23,34)/m2, com a madeira incluída. – R3.560,00 (€297,00) pagos à mão-de-obra especializada, o que dá uma média de R32,36 (€2,70)hora ou R226,75 (€18,92)dia. – R10.680,03 (€891,95) gastos em combustível e manutenção auto, o que dá uma média de R267,00 (€22,28)dia, tendo em conta um total de 40 dias dedicados à Iniciativa. – R5.241,74 (€441,11) usados em comunicações móveis, correios, consumíveis, equipamento de escritório, cópias e impressão. Além destes números e do material já mencionado na carta de notícias 02, foram usados 3,47m3 de madeira, 15l de óleo queimado no tratamento das vigas, 19kg de pregos e 1 rolo de arame para prender as vigas às paredes.
